I remember the mountains, the forests and the beautiful valley from my Har Ki Dun trek, but strangely, one of my favourite memories is a simple cup of tea. Our journey began from Sankri, and everyone was excited to start walking. We had read about the route, checked our Har Ki Dun trek itinerary many times and packed everything we thought we would need. Still, nothing could prepare us for how beautiful the actual journey would be. The trail took us through forests where the sunlight came through the trees in small golden patches. We crossed wooden bridges and walked beside the Supin River. The sound of the flowing water made the journey feel peaceful, even when our legs started becoming tired. After hours of walking, we reached a Himalayan village where we stopped for a short break. Someone offered us tea, and we happily accepted. Sitting there with a warm cup in my hands while looking at the mountains felt strangely perfect. It wasn't an expensive hotel or a fancy restaurant. It was just tea, mountains and a few tired travellers enjoying a quiet moment. After the break, we continued towards Osla and Seema. The villages were beautiful, with traditional houses and peaceful surroundings. I enjoyed seeing how people lived so closely with nature. The further we walked, the more I felt that this journey was becoming about more than reaching the destination. Every little moment mattered. Finally, after days of walking, we reached Har Ki Dun. The first view of the valley was incredible. Huge Himalayan peaks surrounded us, and the open landscape seemed to stretch forever. The Swargarohini peaks stood in the distance, making the scenery look almost unreal. Everyone became quiet. We had been talking and laughing throughout the trek, but at that moment nobody needed to say anything. We simply stood there and looked. I realised that this was why people come to the mountains. Not only for adventure, but also for moments that make you slow down. During the return journey, I kept thinking about that little cup of tea. It reminded me that happiness doesn't always come from big experiences. Sometimes it is hidden in simple things—a warm drink after a long walk, a friendly smile, a beautiful sunset or a quiet conversation. The Har Ki Dun trek gave me plenty of spectacular views, but those small moments made the journey feel real. If you visit Har Ki Dun in 2026, take your time. Don't rush from one destination to another. Stop when you see something beautiful, talk to people, enjoy a cup of tea and let the mountains tell their own story.
